SEWA" What does Gurbani say?

WHAT IS SEWA??????? Seva  also Sewa, short for the word  Karseva  refers to  "selfless service" , work or service performed without any thought of reward or personal benefit. In the Punjabi language the person performing such service is called a  Sevadar . All  Sikhs  are encouraged by their Guru ( Guru Granth Sahib ) to perform Seva or Selfless Service. This is not only good for community relations but also is good for the moral uplifting of the person. You will find Sikhs engaged in free service in  Gurdwaras  washing dishes, cleaning the floors, serving food, etc. Sikhs are also encouraged to help the community by performing unpaid work in hospitals, 'old peoples' homes, community centres, etc. Volunteers engaged in Seva are referred to as  Sevadars and for many people this activity forms an essential part of their life, providing spiritual fulfilment and practical benefits. 60,000 kg of flowers to decorate Golden Temple on Gurpurb

60,000 kg of flowers to decorate Golden Temple on Gurpurb The Golden Temple will be decorated with 60,000 kg of flowers on October 7 on the occasion of Gurpurb this year, according to reports. A Mumbai-based sangat will reportedly spend around ₹15 lakh to import the flowers from as many as eight countries. Around 100 devotees have volunteered for the decoration work, which will begin on Wednesday, reports added.

SINGHS PUNISHED MASSA RANGAR (1740) In the year 1740, a Mughal commander named Massa Rangar occupied shri Darbar Sahib (also called Golden Temple) and used the shrine to host lewd activities.  News spread and finally it reached remote region of Rajasthan. Two Sikhs in Rajasthan BHAI MEHTAB SINGH and BHAI SUKHA SINGH decided to kill Massa Ranga to avenge the defilement. The two Sikhs then travel led to Amritsar to accomplish the great deed. Upon reaching Amritsar, they discovered that the city as well as the Darbar Sahib were strongly defended by Mughal troops. Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh dressed themselves as revenue officials and entered the Darbar Sahib. In the sanatorium of the Darbar Sahib, they found Massa Ranga along with numerous Mughal officials enjoying a show of dancing girls and they were drinking also.
